Debre Tabor University School of Law has been established within the framework of the broader objectives of the University. The Department of Law was officially established by the decision of the University Senate in 2017 and subsequently developed into a School Law in July 2021. It had begun its academic activities with 36 degree students in the regular program. Currently, it has offering law courses at LLB through regular and extension programs, now more than 15 members of active and in-study academic staff have joined and are teaching law courses in the School.
The School has been working with loads of stakeholders in and outside including regional and national courts, general attorney offices, police institutions, Action Aid International Organization etc. It has been a member of the Ethiopian Law School Consortium and the Ethiopian Law School Association. In this short span of time, the School has contributed a lot to the justice sector of the country by actively engaging in educating students, conducting research and providing community service via legal aid service and legal training.
The School of Law now aspires to become one of the best law schools in Ethiopian universities in legal education, research and community services.
