College of Social Sciences and Humanities
The College of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH) was established in 2011 G.C following
the reorganization of Debre Tabor University (DTU). When it was established first, there was
only one department (Geography and Environmental Studies) and limited number of staff
members. Over the years since its establishment, CSSH experienced some changes that often
resulted in the expansion of additional departments.
To make the university’s vision real, CSSH plays an important role in teaching and learning
process, community services, and research. The college has been producing competent,
passionate, ethical, and innovative graduates who could contribute for the socio-economic and
political development of the nation. Currently, the college is enrolling students in 10
undergraduate programs which are Geography and Environmental Studies, Sociology,
Psychology, Early Child Care and Education, Special Needs and Inclusive Education, Civics and
Ethical Studies, English Language and Literature, Amharic Language and Literature, History and
Heritage Management and Theatrical Arts. Moreover, three postgraduate programs are launched
and enrolled graduate students. The college is now working to launch two PhD and three
masters’ programs: PhD in TEFL, MA in Inclusion and Rehabilitation Studies, MA in Amharic
Language (TEAM) and Geographic Information System.
