Scientific Miracles: From Tewodros to Today
The legacy of Tewodros II, a pivotal figure in Ethiopian history, is marked not only by his leadership but also by his commitment to technological advancement. Historical evidence suggests that Tewodros was deeply engaged in various technological initiatives aimed at safeguarding his people and ensuring his nation’s sovereignty. A significant hub of these efforts was Gafat, located in Gonder, where Tewodros established a foundation for scientific progress.
Today, Debre Tabor University, situated on the historic grounds of Gafat, carries forward this legacy. With a strong emphasis on science and technology, the university proudly adopts the motto: “Debre Tabor University has a historical duty to answer Tewodros’s quest for knowledge.” In honor of this motto, Debre Tabor University has established the Gafat Institute of Technology and inaugurated the Gafat Aerospace Engineering Development Center, echoing Tewodros’s enduring influence on innovation.
The spirit of Tewodros continues to inspire the university’s initiatives, which have led to remarkable advancements in fields such as rocketry, robotics, and communication technologies. This newsletter highlights one of the university’s standout students, whose achievements reflect the commitment to innovation nurtured at Debre Tabor University.
Nurturing Future Innovators: The Journey of Hailegebriel Demewez
In an era of rapidly advancing aviation technology, nurturing young talent is crucial. One exemplary figure is Hailegebriel Demewez, a promising graduate candidate at Debre Tabor University, who has been recommended for a prestigious scholarship at Ethiopian Aviation University.
