Debre Tabor University in collaboration with the e-SHE program that is being implemented in partnership with Ministry of Education, Mastercard Foundation, Arizona State University and Shayashone (SYS) PLC has graciously commenced the e-learning program for the 2017 academic year.
As part of a nationwide initiative to introduce e-learning to universities across the country, #DebreTaborUniversity, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education Ethiopia and Arizona State University, has commenced capacity-building training on electronic learning for 353 teachers and 9500 students.
The e-SHE platform is being established to facilitate access to an e-learning platform for students and staff from the 50 public universities in Ethiopia. This platform contributes to a quality and relevant education that prepares students for the global workforce. The e-Learning for Strengthening Higher Education (e-SHE) is a multi-stakeholder initiative, managed by the Ministry of Education, with the objective of enhancing the relevance, quality, accessibility, and resilience of higher education in Ethiopia.
A formal launching ceremony was convened on September 21st, 2017 E.C. at the Clinic Hall, in Debre Tabor University with the presence of the senior management team, including Dr. Menberu Teshome, Academic and Research Vice president and Dr. Mersha Nigus, the E-Learning coordinator at DTU. An educational awareness raising consultation was organized for all levels of leadership and professionals with a gathering of management, directors, coordinators, department heads, computer laboratory technicians, and ICT workers who graciously attended the event. The significance of Master Class training for instructors and the Student Success Suite (SSS) was eloquently discussed. This consultative meeting will be pivotal in determining the success of the training, which will have a significant impact on DTU digitization initiatives.

The e-Learning initiative aligns with DTU’s short-term strategic plan, ensuring that its recent advancements in the institution’s digital infrastructure will continue to be enhanced in capacity building, attitude, and practice improvements, to fully utilize digitization.
