During the occasion, I expressed my gratitude towards my colleague, Jing Xinuha, president of Jianghan and the entire team for organizing a successful meeting and the cordial welcome that I was afforded.
During my remarks, I respectfully conveyed to the esteemed president and senior university officials that the collaboration and partnership initiatives with Jianghan Comprehensive University are of significant strategic importance for #DebreTaborUniversity. This is because it is distinguished as a #comprehensiveuniversity in the newly introduced #universitydifferentiation by the Ministry of Education Ethiopia. I conveyed to the esteemed President Jing Xinhua that University partnerships are based on a shared understanding between university leadership and that I am immensely pleased with the enthusiasm and interest demonstrated by Jianghan University leadership. On the other hand, I have respectfully affirmed #DTU‘s commitment in my remarks, stating that its collaboration with #JianghanComprehensiveUniversity is strategically and especially significant, as both institutions possess a shared understanding of research and academic pursuits as comprehensive universities, and a plethora of other commonalities in structure and field of studies.
Our subsequent discussion focused on the potential of a #sisterhood between #DebreTabor and #Wuhan, two cities that have shared a similar historical position, serving as the respective capitals for #Ethiopia and #China. #DebreTabor, a town established in the 14th Century, served as Ethiopia’s capital during the 19th Century. The esteemed Ethiopian leader, #EmperorTewodrosII, was committed to modernizing the country and unifying it under a robust central government. He introduced European technology, prioritized military reforms, and employed foreign artisans to manufacture weapons. Similarly, #Wuhan was once a Chinese capital, currently home to 12 million people, and is situated in China’s core. It is a manufacturing, transportation, and higher education hub. #Wuhan is renowned for its recent focus on high-tech facilities, quality of life, and high-rise commercial buildings, among other notable landmarks that symbolize the city’s growth and significance in the country.
The meeting concluded with a consensus that will be fostered through collaborative discussions between respective colleges on a variety of professional fields, including agriculture, medicine, technology, along with training courses, scientific and technological cooperation, enhancement of e-learning and digital capabilities. Meanwhile, the sisterhood initiative between Debre Tabor and Wuhan is deemed acceptable and Jianghan University intends to discuss the issue with Wuhan City Minuslspality
